Hey all, the powerpoint I put together of the screenshots we used for CCCC 2009 on RSS feeds is a little too large to attach here, so please email me if you would like access to it. My email is mgd08c at fsu dot edu. [That is a zero in the first part, so mgd(zero)8c]. Happy wikiing everyone

I have experimented with asking students to create "playlists" on H2O when it was popular. They dutifully did it, but I am not sure many of them bought into the idea. Now, I am thinking about Diido, primarily because of the annotation features. It could be a useful tool for teaching reading the web critically. Has anyone tried to use it in a class?

How have you used document sharing and collaboration in your own scholarship? What have you learned from this experience (and can it be translated into the areas of pedagogy and individual use?)

Doug and all:
I am actually in the middle of explaining Google Docs to a group of colleague at JMU so that we can get some work done together this summer. Unexpectedly, I have had a torrid time making it work. The most difficult part has been getting across the idea that, with Docs, you don't have a "group admin." Also, the e-mail based sharing system has been pretty sketchy, locking some people out from time to time. In large part because of this experience, I have been hesitant to use Google docs with students, using a wiki instead.

I rely heavily on social bookmarking in my doctoral studies. I find tagging to be essential to re-locating that elusive article and finding connections between resources that I may not have realized were related.

I use my blog (complexrhetoric.blogspot.com) to keep track of books and articles I've read, as well as post new ideas that I'm working on.

How have *you* used Document Sharing and Collaboration in your classes? Let us know if there are ways both mundane or innovative that you have utilized these applications in your teaching. What pedagogical goals were you supporting with your use? Feel free to also mention projects that succeeded and projects that did not succeed, along with a reflection about the outcome.
